Spyware removal (none / 0)
by Herman on 2005-08-20 20:22:07 EDT

What's everyone's favourite spyware removal method? I usually start by using Spybot Search & Destroy, and then I take care of whatever that doesn't get with HijackThis.

Shared Net Connection with laggy online games (none / 0)
by jfinnie on 2005-10-04 17:10:27 EDT

My roomate and I enjoy playing an older shoot'em up multiplayer game called Tactical Ops and we finally got our computers networked to share the same internet connection through a router. But when ever we play at the same time (or when one of us plays and the other is using their webcam), we both get major lag issues with very high pings in which ever server we play in. I was wondering if there is a way to fix this, cuz I've never had it happen before.

Side note, we don't have other major applications running while we play the game. No msn, no music/video... blah blah blah. The only thing I really noticed is that my roomates LAN connection icon in the bottom right corner says that its speed is 100.0Mbs where mine is 10.0Mbs... could this be the problem?

CD/DVD drive not recognized (none / 0)
by Martha on 2007-11-13 12:37:33 EST

I have a 6-month old computer running Vista with a CD/DVD drive which I have used to read and write. But as of a couple weeks ago it is unusable because it is not recognized by the OS. In Explorer or My Computer, the E:\ drive does not even appear in the list. In Control Panel when looking at the CD/DVD drive information it states that there has been corruption in the registry. I have no idea what I might have done to cause that. When I try to re-install the driver from the internet, it first checks and tells me that I have the most recent version of the drive so no need to re-install. Should I uninstall the driver and then re-install?

blocking downloads (none / 0)
by thejayster21 on 2008-02-07 14:42:37 EST

My wife and I allow our daughter to use our computer. That also means her friends use it too. We're tired of them downloading games and programs. How can we block them from being installed. We have Windows XP.

latency (none / 0)
by knetti on 2008-10-14 08:25:13 EDT

I record voice audio and latency has crept in. I'm runing xp with cool edit and a tascam mic and usb board. After an extended shutdown, the problem seems to have fixed itself but then it creeps in again. The problem is hiccups, drop, cutouts in the recording. Playing audio files is fine.
any info??
